As my journey begins in Tamilnadu in a sunny season started to visit an hillstation via Coimbatore through self driving with the family. Enjoying the moment.... route through satyamangalam forest area with calmness and in the misty early morning.  Thimbam hills with 27 hair pinbends  narrow roads with dangerous peaks and valleys. It's warned not to get down as a big cats may glimpse during the day. With 140km from thumbaa hills with short narrow bends reached the garden City of Mysore a tourist paradise.

THE GRANDEUR OF NEW PALACE:
In order to restore the grandeur of the Mysore palace decided to build a new palace on the models and foundation of the old palace.
The construction which was inaugurated by her highness in October 1897 was completed in1912 at an aggregate outlay of RS.41,47,913 and completed in 1912.

STRUCTURE OF NEW PALACE:
The main building of massive grey granite three storeyed and dominated by a five storeyed tower covered by a guilded dome. The tower is about 145ft from ground to the golden flag on its summit supported by the tall pillers.
The palace like the old is built around an open courtyard called "thotti" open to the sky. East of the thotti on the ground floor is the elephant gate. South beautiful Kalyana Mantapa marriage pavilion. On the first floor is the great Darbaur hall, Divine-E-Aam measuring 86m by 39m. On the same floor towards the south is decorated private Durbar hall called Ambavilasa, the Diwan-E-Khas. The second floor has several rooms and large halls and sides. The Kalyana Mantapa or the marriage pavilion in the ground floor is a beauty to look at. The octagonal, painted pavilion has a colourful stained-glass ceiling.

THE GOLDEN THRONE:
The star attraction of the Mysore palace is the traditional and ceremonial Golden throne. The golden throne consists of a seat, a staircase and the golden umbrella.  According to this epigraph which is addressed to Mummadi Krishnaraj wodeyar III, the bejewelled Golden Throne has come down to the Mysore Royal Family from generations of kings.  After the fall of Tipu Sultan this Throne was recovered from a room in the Sultan's palace at Srirangapatna. This royal seat was quickly renovated and used by child Raja krishnaraja wodeyar III in 1799. Since the ceremonial throne remained with the Mysore Royal Family.

PORTRAIT GALLERY:
Many paintings and photographs of royal family are exhibited in the portrait gallery on southern part of the Kalyana Mantapa.
There are two large photography which is nearly 100years old.one is Krishana rajawodeyar with his younger brother and his sister's. The second portrait is that of kempananjamammanni who is popularly known by the appellation vanivilasa sannidhana who was responsible for the reconstruction of the modern Mysore palace.
